Le Pen claims that Macron “took into account the RN’s criteria”

The leaders of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella and Marine Le Pen, assured on Saturday September 7 that they did not want to participate in “institutional disorder” or in the “blockage” by immediately overthrowing the future government of Michel Barnier.

“I simply hope that the National Rally does not participate, unlike the left, in institutional disorder and democratic chaos,” declared RN leader Jordan Bardella on TF1 on Saturday evening. “I will judge the new Prime Minister on the evidence, which does not imply that there will be no censorship during his actions,” Jordan Bardella said.

Systematic censorship, “not the state of mind” of the RN

“If, on the other hand, he is the new front man for Macronism and he continues the policy that was led by Emmanuel Macron and which was very severely punished at the ballot box last July, then this government will fall,” he threatened.

The leader of the RN deputies, Marine Le Pen, also affirmed that her “wish is not to create a blockage”, in an interview with La Tribune Dimanche.

“If we had wanted to, we would have done like the New Popular Front and threatened to censor everyone. That is not our state of mind,” she continued, while stressing that “this government will obviously be under surveillance.”

Barnier seems to have the same observation as us”

During this interview, Marine Le Pen also stated that President Macron “took into account the RN’s criteria in choosing his Prime Minister”. She particularly pointed out the fact that “Michel Barnier seems to have the same view on immigration as we do”, recalling the positions of the new Prime Minister when he took part in the primary of his party Les Républicains in 2021. “He is at least aware that immigration is a major problem”, she said happily.

“Now we expect action from him,” she urged the weekly.

Finally, she does not dismiss the scenario of an early presidential election out of hand: “this is one of the plausible scenarios, of course” because “the head of state has three ways to get the country out of a political crisis: renew his government, dissolve the National Assembly and resign (…) two of these means are no longer at his disposal, he only has the third left.”
