The last November tour of the XV of France was marked by the introduction of a reinforced performance plan, a sort of new, stricter living framework to avoid the excesses of the summer tour in Argentina, which was marked by the Jaminet and Jégou-Auradou cases.
Close the door to certain habits
In a long interview given to Midi Olympique, Fabien Galthié presented the observations he was able to make on this new mode of operation. And these findings seem extremely positive. The Blues coach even talks about an assessment “excellent”, and is pleased to see that the efforts undertaken around the selections extend to the clubs. There is a duty of education which is absolutely necessary, at all levels of French rugby, after too long a period of laxity, we could say, which was not in line with the values of the high level and the requested requirement.
The ordeal we went through pushed us to review our processes, our content, the approach to selection, support, our style and living environment. We reworked our charter which had been abandoned. We spoke with the players so that they accepted it, signed it and became aware of the issues.
-This work is taken up in professional but also amateur clubs. We must continue to work on the education of players and educators. Everyone must understand that culturally, certain things were accepted in our sport and are no longer accepted today. And above all ask yourself the question: what drives performance?
