Today, place for the best Regional 2 and Regional 3 players in the department. There are five nominees and one of them will try, thanks to your votes, to become the winner of these amateur rugby trophies version 2024. The jury has decided to put five in competition: Charly Balsemin, Hugo Vieyres , Jordan Bideault, Laurent Modeste and Raphaël Allasia.
Charly Balsemin (Septfonds): still there
Even if he is more present in Corrèze because of his professional activity (he works on the motorway), Charly nonetheless remains very attached to his Septfonds club which he joined six years ago now. Even if he can't train with his teammates during the week, he still joins them on Friday, to play on the weekend. Which makes for some pretty busy weeks. Originally from Caussade, passion is stronger than anything for someone who can play at full-back and winger positions. “It’s very important for me to keep this anchor in my club. In any case, it’s a complicated period that I’m trying to manage as best as possible, because I know that I won’t stay with Brive forever ( smile). was on the side of Caussade, but it would have been impossible to continue, with work at the same time. That's why I decided to come back to Septfonds and I'm more than satisfied, because I have more affinity for this club.
It was quite late, at 18, that Charly joined rugby at Septfonds, a club where his father played. “If I had to choose a club, my father always told me it would be this one. And I listen to what he says (laughing).” At Septonds, Charly is considered the “good student in the class, always exemplary, despite the injuries.” “It's true that I'm not lucky in that regard. Ankle, fingers, and there the acromio the last season, we will say that we have to make do with it, I have no luck, every time, it falls on me Every match is almost the last, so we have to savor it”, laughs the one who is regularly. holder in the first team, and who even achieved a double at the start of the season. A season that could go better. “We put a lot of things in place this summer to have a quality squad. We got there, with a solid core, but the results are a little complicated, but it will come. The team has never been so young for a while, that's what's promising and what I like.” And which means that Charly continues to make the journeys from Corrèze.
Hugo Vieyres (Saint-Antonin): at 25, already a “dad”
It is Hugo Vieyres who carries all the hopes this season for Saint-Antoninois. A heavy responsibility on the shoulders of the 25-year-old, already considered the “dad of the team”. “There are others (smile), even if it's true that the average age is 20-21 years old I think. We are all in the same boat, to try to make the most of it. “The older players are supposed to be there to show the way. This is what we try to do within our means”, explains the pillar, captain last season, but who does not. is more so this season. “I'm not someone who talks a lot, but when I express myself, I try to have the right words. Our player-coach Terry Philippart, the former professional, is of course the most listened to, but everyone try to make a contribution when necessary.”
An exemplary awakening
A pillar “trustworthy, and of exemplary generosity”. Since the end of the Agreement with Villefranche, the club had been dormant, but woke up two seasons ago, under the leadership of a group of motivated enthusiasts. “When they wanted to restart the team, many of us said banco to relaunch the adventure. We couldn't see the village without a rugby team”, insists the one who lives in Parisot, and who did not hesitate a second to taste “real rugby” again. “When people see the team, I hope they see us as a real group of friends, before or at the same time as seeing a rugby team (smile). It’s very important for us to have fun in training and in matches when I played at Carmaux, I never felt this feeling. There is no one side, it's everyone together.
This season got off to a great start with the victory in the derby at Septfonds. Since then, Saint-Antonin has continued its merry way in this championship, even if nothing is certain. No matter, Saint-Antonin is not there to make up the numbers. “We were supposed to make a local final last season, but it didn't happen. We hope to qualify again at the end of the season, and not lose in the first round.”
Jordan Bideault (L’Honor-de-Cos): straight ahead
We will straight away set things straight, pillar of his state, Jordan is not known for his big rides on the ground, nor for his devastating hooks. No, with “Bido”, it's straight on, in the pile, like a wild boar. A reputation that he assumes. “I'm not going to say the opposite (smile). We make do with what we have, and on my side it's power. I still manage to make passes, I train for that (smile). In any case way, the strength of the team is up front, we often attack the backs (smile).” Bon vivant, Jordan leads everyone behind him. “Bido” arrived in L’Honor-de-Cos around ten years ago, with a two-year break marked by the birth of her little Jules, and the construction of her house.
But he quickly found the field again. Originally from Lafrançaise, the whole family is now based in L'Honor, a city that he “will never abandon”. A steeple rugby that he loves. Last season, it was he who even took up his pilgrim's stick to “prevent the club from going back into a difficult season”. “I have had matches where we started with 16 men, traveling two hours, before taking a beating. These are moments that I would not like to relive. I wanted the club to continue to live. It's complicated to have a hardworking group in Regional 3, but this year it's very good, there is a great group. We hope that we will go as high as possible, with at least one qualification” continues the one who also has. created the friendship of players. And if you come across a C15 in the streets of Honor in the club's colors, you'll know who's at the wheel. “A vehicle missing an eye, but that will soon be rectified (laughing).”
Laurent Modeste (Garonna XV): pillar with a big heart
At Garonna XV, we avoid getting in the way of “Lolo”, the 142 kg pillar. “It fluctuates, but at the moment, that’s it (smile). We’re not going to lie, my rugby is based more on power than on technicality.” No matter the bottle… Able to play in all positions on the first line, and even on the second line (“not after, because it runs too much”), Laurent Modeste remains a very important player. But at Garonna XV, it's not the pack that does everything. “Of course it's an advantage, but behind us we also have little gazelles who are just waiting to express themselves. We have quite a few players over 35, like me, but also a lot of players under of 22 years old, it's sure it's tricky, but at my age, you learn to move around, to anticipate things (laughing).”
Respected player, appreciated educator
A player for many years in the Toulouse region, Laurent took up the oval ball a few years ago in Grisolles. He is not only a respected player, he is also a valued educator. “I take care of the U10s, after going through the M6s and M8s. When I was little, I always had great educators who I remember fondly. Transmission is important. Rugby gives us a lot, and it's up to us to give back. For four years, working with the youngest has really brought me a lot. I also created the women's section, in leisure, the Gazelles. players, or mothers of children rugby school for two years, everything has been going very well.”
As we can see, Lolo's weeks are busy. Days which will continue since Laurent Modeste has a very specific project.” We have a junior team which has been playing XV since this year. Next year, our first juniors should move up to the first team. I have set myself the challenge of playing at least one season with them, just to pass the torch properly, on a round number, at 40 years old (laughing). creating new momentum.”
Raphaël Allasia (Avenir Monclarais): a family story
The Allasia family is obviously not unknown when we talk about oval football in this corner of the department. A father president for a few years, players who bring happiness to the team on the field, Avenir Monclarais owes a lot to Allasia. Raphaël, for his part, is more present than ever to take the club back to higher levels, after complicated moments. “We were not spoiled by the authorities, and that weighed down our year. We still managed to get back up. This year's group is very good, the atmosphere is very good”, explains the second row .
Avenir Monclarais is aiming for mid-table and hopes to do better than previous seasons. Raphaël was there in the first series, he also remembers the magnificent adventure which led the team to the final of the 3rd series French championship, twelve years ago already. That year, the Tarn-et-Garonnais were walking a bit on water, and were only defeated in the final, in Fleurance, against Pomarez. No shield, but memories that have remained forever engraved for an entire village, an adventure that everyone would like to relive. Starting with Raphaël, even if he knows full well that the planets must be perfectly aligned. At 30, Raphaël hopes to have a great adventure in the Pyrenees, or even in the French championship before putting away his crampons.
