Pro D2 – Oyonnax with great strides

Pushed back to the bottom of the ranking after a series of five losses, the Ain club returned to the gates of the qualifying zone.

Mid-December, occupied the penultimate place in the rankingin a relegation situation, after finding itself in a spiral of five consecutive defeats, including those conceded to Mathon against and Mont-de-Marsan. Five days later, the Ain club returned to the gates of the qualifying zone, in a position a little more in line with the status of great favorite which was lent to it at the start of the championship. Since the reception of Soyaux-Angoulême (December 13) Oyonnax has been riding the wave of success, five matches five victories including three with offensive bonus as was again the case this Thursday evening against Brive who in turn let themselves be taken in a negative spiral (three defeats in three days).

“In this first block of the year we took fourteen points out of fifteen” congratulates Fabien Cibray while sliding “this bonus obtained against Brive is a bit like the icing on the cake, so the players will also be entitled to a bonus, an extra day of vacation”.

Winning, progressing, it’s a pace that suits us well

Objective achieved for the Indinois manager whose team has made great strides back to the top of the rankings: “We got back into a good dynamic that we wanted to validate against a Top 4 team. To prepare for this match we had a short week and we got to the essentials. We knew what we had to do and this victory is truly the fruit of our work. Making the team was complicated, because all the players are involved, have the same desire.

In the fog of Mathon, the horizon has cleared a little more for Oyonnax, thanks to a success which should only constitute an additional step in the eyes of Fabien Cibray “We still have things to resolve regarding our discipline, but we are on the right track. We have taken balls in all sectors of the conquest.”

And the ranking? “It's not our primary concern. Our vision is focused on the next match to be played. Winning, progressing, it's a pace that suits us”.
