Fiji captain Waisea is expected to bounce back in Nice next season. It is therefore a big move that the leaders of the Riviera club are in the process of achieving…
It's a very nice move that the Nice club, current resident of Pro D2, has just achieved. According to our information, the club's leaders have just obtained the agreement of the Fijian Waisea (34 years old, 40 caps) for next season. The captain of the Fijian selection, notably passing through Stade Français (2012-2022) and Toulon (2022-2024), has not really found his place in Sale, in the suburbs of Manchester, where he arrived there ago a few months to replace Manu Tuilagi.
However, the latest physical tests passed by the player proved excellent and the recent matches played by Waisea with the Fiji national team prove that the three-quarter international center still has two good years of Rugby in his legs.
An ambitious Nice project
Obviously, the arrival of Waisea in Nice is a strong sign sent by the leaders of the Riviera club to the microcosm of French rugby. And if the Nice project were to bounce back into the National division next season, the team would then be sufficiently armed to aspire to an immediate rise to Pro D2, with future recruitment being ambitious to say the least.
-For his part, Waisea has signed up for the next two seasons with the club chaired for several months by Jean-Baptiste Aldigé. We can consider here that next season will be “year 1” of the Aldigé team in Nice, i.e. the first year where the former Biarritz president will lead a squad that he mainly chose.
