Arriving at Racing 92 in the summer of 2023 from Pau, Clovis Le Bail (29 years old) is preparing to turn the page in Ile-de-France at the end of the season.
Little used by Stuart Lancaster, the former Palois already seems to have found a new base. According to information from Olympic Middaythe scrum half should settle down in the harbor and strengthen the RC Toulon squad.
An inevitable departure in a dense workforce
With only 12 match sheets this season, including three starts, Clovis Le Bail has failed to establish himself as a regular choice at Racing 92. The competition is tough, particularly with Nolann Le Garrec who dominates the post in Hauts-de-Seine.
The situation could become even more delicate for Le Bail next year, while Léo Carbonneau, a young gem from Brive, will join Ciel et Blanc.
-For the Ile-de-France club, the future at the post of scrum half seems assured with Antoine Gibert and hopeful Kléo Labarbe in support. Under these conditions, Le Bail's departure seemed inevitable.
Toulon, a new stage for Le Bail?
According to Midi Olympique, RC Toulon is ready to welcome the player trained in Nantes. Despite the presence of Baptiste Serin and Scottish international Ben White, Pierre Mignoni would like to densify his group with an experienced player profile. Le Bail, spent nine years at the Paloise Section, could provide an alternative to the position while supporting the Toulon number 9s. It would be especially valuable during periods of doubles, if Serin were (finally) to be called up to the French team.
Racing focuses on youth
Racing 92 is not sitting idly by. With the arrival of Carbonneau and the advanced discussions to sign Grenoble winger Wilfried Hulleu, the club clearly shows its desire to bet on the future. Carbonneau, 20 years old and an U20 international, could quickly become a key player in Stuart Lancaster's system.
