Pro D2 – Fabien Cibray (Oyonnax): “We held our common thread without panicking”

manager Fabien Cibray was obviously satisfied after his team's victory on the pitch with a score of 33 to 15. He was delighted with the mastery of his players throughout the match.

Did the meeting go according to your expectations?

We expected a difficult match. We knew that Nice had three crucial matches to play to ensure their survival. When you play in circumstances like that, you tend to be more aggressive and we warned the players about that. We were also very focused on ourselves and we were lucky to get the score quickly. In the first half, they missed two shots on goal which could have given them a little more comfort. But we will say that in the end, we will say that the bonus point is the icing on the cake. We just wanted to win to continue our series, now there are four of us and so it's very positive for us.

We rarely felt you were in danger all the same…

-

Yes, we dominated physically, especially in duels and collisions, which allowed us to play our game well. It's always easier to dominate when you move forward. There are still situations that we could have optimized better, particularly in the second half, where we had a good ten possibilities to enter the scoring zone. Unfortunately, we don't finish the shots. Which means that in the end you are almost playing with fire because Nice could have taken away the bonus point. We held our common thread without panicking and without being in real danger.
