A look back at the 2nd subscribers' breakfast – Hérault

On this Thursday, January 16, around sixty season ticket holders met at Club 1986 at the GGL Stadium for the second “Subscriber Breakfast” of the season. In the presence of Bernard Laporte, Joan Caudullo and Didier Bès, our supporters were able to chat for more than an hour in a friendly atmosphere, a few hours before takeoff for Newcastle.

Welcomed by administrative employees around a coffee and gourmet pastries concocted by M Traiteur, subscribers, registered via their dedicated newsletter, were able to enjoy the unique setting of Club 1986 in a peaceful and early morning GGL Stadium.

In turn, Bernard Laporte, Didier Bès and Joan Caudullo presented themselves in front of an audience of nearly 60 people. With transparency and without tongue in cheek, the three members of the staff did not evade any of the subjects discussed: mid-season review, playing system, training, Challenge Cup, while giving some information on recruitment and composition of the weekend team…

An enriching exchange for subscribers who were also able to give their feelings about the start of the season, which will continue tomorrow evening in Newcastle (broadcast on BeinSports 3), then on Saturday January 25 against Stade Toulousain at the Ernest-Wallon stadium!

In a question/answer format, subscribers had the floor… And the staff played the game well!

Some statements from the staff

Joan Caudullo, about the group leaders: » In the off-season, after coming close to going downhill, we had a bruised group, we were looking for leaders. Billy Vunipola, who initially didn't want it, became one. Stuart Hogg also took the trick. We had to find new momentum. This allowed the old leaders to return to their positions. To be from , you do not necessarily have to be born in Montpellier! »

Didier Bèsregarding recruitment: “ The best recruitment is managing to keep your best players. On this point, I think we are pretty good. »

Bernard Laporteabout the training : “When Joan Caudullo returned, we put the emphasis back on training. Today, we are not equipped to play in the two competitions (Top 14 and Champions Cup). For this, you need a very large workforce and you have to rely on young people. The club that has a good training center will be competitive on both counts. That’s our goal.”

Joan Caudulloon the playing time of young people from the CDF: “The training must blossom. 15 years ago, we made the European Cup by throwing young people onto the field and taking 60 points. Today, we are putting it on good terms. We were able to see it against the Lions, which was a high-level match. »
