According to RugbyPass, two names are circulating insistently in certain Top 14 club offices: English winger Joe Cokanasiga and Adré Smith, rough South African second row. These profiles arouse the interest of French clubs, but their contractual situation could complicate their immediate arrival.

Joe Cokanasiga, one more Englishman in ?

At 27, Joe Cokanasiga is a well-known name in English rugby. With 35 tries scored in 95 matches in the colors of Bath since his arrival in 2018, the Fijian-born winger has established himself as one of the most spectacular players in the Premiership.

Recently extended until 2027, it remains a pillar of the Bath project, but that did not prevent certain French clubs from inquiring about his situation. As a reminder, Bath will repatriate English winger Henry Arundell from Racing 92 at the end of the season.

The power of Cokanasiga, capable of outflanking the most organized defenses, inevitably appeals to the ambitious teams of the Top 14. However, with still two years of contract to honor, potential suitors will have to be patient… or ready to break the bank.

Adré Smith, a sought-after profile in the Top 14 and in Japan

On the Stormers side, Adré Smith also arouses the curiosity of recruiters. Second massive line (201 cm, 123 kg), the 27-year-old South African could be a strong asset for any Top 14 pack. With nearly 50 matches played since 2019, his experience speaks for itself.

Although committed to the Stormers until 2027, Smith seems closer to a departure. The joint interests of French and Japanese clubs, particularly in League One, suggest a potential transfer.

If the Top 14 offers a showcase and a first-class level of competition, the Japanese League One is more than an attractive alternative thanks to competitive salaries and a lighter schedule. Their possible arrival in France would further strengthen the density of the championship.
