While the Argentine courts have dropped the charges against the two Rugby players, the plaintiff’s lawyer is preparing her defense. She intends to try everything to have her client’s rape recognized.
If on December 10, the Argentine courts dismissed the case in favor of the two rugby players, the case may not be closed. Even though she was particularly affected by the decision of the judge in charge of the case, the plaintiff, a 39-year-old Argentinian, does not intend to give up.

A few moments after the announcement of the dismissal of the case, his lawyer, Me Natacha Romano, had already announced her intention to appeal. Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou may therefore not have finished with justice. The case could be transmitted to higher courts: the Court of Cassation of Mendoza, the Supreme Court of the city then the National Supreme Court. According to AFP, the lawyer also does not rule out going to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights as a last-ditch attempt.

Me Natacha Romano believes that all the evidence has not been “fully evaluated”. She notably mentioned the bruises from which the complainant suffered. The defense argued that a hematological disease was the cause of these marks. An argument that Natacha Romano refuted, based on the report of a hematologist.
As a reminder, the two French internationals were placed in pre-trial detention after being accused of aggravated gang rape, following a French XV match in Argentina. The two players, aged 21, were then authorized to return to France, where they resumed rugby in their respective clubs, in La Rochelle and Pau.
