Saturday, on the occasion of the Champions Cup clash between Rugby Club Toulonnais and Glasgow, Matthieu Lartot, emblematic journalist of France Télévisions, was entitled to a particularly warm welcome from the Var club.
Having had his right leg amputated in 2023 following knee cancer, Lartot was moved to discover a cabin specially designed for him in the media gallery. An attention from the RCT which did not fail to mark the rugby man and his spectators.
Before kick-off, the commentator spoke on his X account (formerly Twitter):
“Thank you to the club, to the town hall. Things are going in the right direction! Soon the elevator. » An initiative applauded live on France 3, where we could see him supported by his accomplice Dimitri Yachvili to ensure the broadcast.
An example to follow?
Le RCT, already praised for its inclusion efforts and social commitment, has led by example by installing a commentator's cabin adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM).
The club's community site responded to the journalist in all simplicity: “Thank you Matthieu for highlighting (live on France 3) the effort of the club which has set up a commentator's booth adapted for PMR. Very classy! »
This gesture could inspire other Top 14 and Pro D2 clubs to improve the accessibility of infrastructure, particularly in the media stands. At Mayol, if everything is not yet perfect, the club seems to want to continue on this path, as indicated by Matthieu Lartot's nod to a potential future lift.
