In 2025, the Super League will see its two biggest matches scheduled for Thursdays and Fridays. The Catalans Dragons hope that the Team and TV3 will reach an agreement with IMG to renew their partnership for the broadcast of the 27 Dracs matches over the entire season.
The Super League responded favorably to the expectations of supporters who wanted the return of big matches on Thursday and Friday, without competition from other matches, in order to be able to follow everything on television.
This season, eight clubs have indicated that their preferred time slot for scheduled home fixtures is Friday at 9 p.m.: Sky and RL Commercial have committed to no more than two matches at 9 p.m. each week, in order to better distribute the meetings.
Note that the fifth day of SL offers three big matches with St Helens – Warrington, Leeds – Wigan and Hull KR against Leigh. Day 25 will feature big derbies with St Helens – Wigan, Warrington – Leigh and Castleford – Wakefield, without forgetting that of Hull. For what ? Because these days fall during international football breaks and Sky-Sports does not own the rights.
The Équipe channel has not yet given its agreement
This season again, Sky-Sports decides the two matches that seem most interesting to it. The most attractive, according to them, is broadcast on Friday at 9 p.m. and the other will be on Thursday evening (9 p.m.). Twenty-three of the first twenty-six rounds will have a Thursday match this year. A change from previous years, where this time slot was disappearing.
As in 2024, all matches will be broadcast in England, between Sky-Sports, Super League? + and the BBC, or via the red Sky button. In France, negotiations between IMG and l'Équipe and TV3 continue. The Dragons club, which is not involved in the negotiations, hopes that an agreement will be sealed, since no other channel has come forward to date according to our information.
The Dragons will have the benefit of a live broadcast on Sky-Sports during their first two trips, on Friday evenings (Warrington and Leigh).
Finally, the Wigan club will be featured on Sky-Sports weekend at least thirteen times, plus once on the BBC. The Warriors are a hit and that's good because they will come to Gilbert-Brutus twice in 2025 (May 24 and August 30).
