Halifax has announced the departure of 35-year-old French player Kevin Larroyer after six seasons with the Panthers.
The 35-year-old former French international leaves the club with 126 appearances and 8 tries. He was a pillar of the team, notably during the victory in the final of the 1895 Cup at Wembley and the run to the semi-final of the Challenge Cup in 2019.
Larroyer, moved by his departure, expressed his gratitude to Halifax, where he rediscovered his passion for Rugby:
It's a very difficult decision, very sad because obviously Halifax is the club I've represented the most in my career, so yes, I wish the club the best. It's hard to find the right words to say right now, because I'm still coming to terms with the fact that I will never wear the white and blue jersey again. However, I would like to wish the club all the best for the upcoming and subsequent seasons. I hope I will be back at Shay under other circumstances in the future. Thank you, all the best, and Goodbye!
CEO Damian Clayton praised his leadership, commitment and positive influence within the team:
His commitment to the Panthers has been unwavering, marked by milestones such as his 100th appearance – a testament to both his consistency and his fierce loyalty to our club. His influence extended far beyond the field, inspiring both his teammates and staff with his unwavering integrity and dedication. As he prepares to take on new challenges, we wish Kev every success; he will always be part of the Panthers family and will be welcome here at Shay.
