Defeated twice in its last two matches, Toulon returns to victory under the Mayol sun, against Montpellier (30-17). Jiuta Wainiqolo’s teammates won and temporarily placed themselves on the last step of the Top 14 podium.
Uncompromising at home since the start of the season, Toulon has had a third consecutive success on the Mayol pitch, against Montpellier (30-17). Trailing at the break, the Toulonnais managed to turn the situation around from the restart. A good operation for the RCT which had two defeats in a row. Capable of shining in sequences, the Héraultais nevertheless leave with zero points and the feeling that this season risks being as complicated as the previous one.
Like in a Moustin
Building on their first home victory – obtained against Vannes last weekend – had the Montpellier residents finally launched their season? If the question deserved to be asked before the match, the first twenty minutes delivered by the Héraultais did not really answer it. Overall dominated, Stuart Hogg, established at the opening, and his colleagues nevertheless managed to keep their backs against the Toulon domination, only materialized by a penalty from Enzo Hervé (9e). While the two teams multiplied the errors, Maël Moustin took advantage of an inside delivery from Cobus Reinach following a feint of a carried ball to slip behind the line on the very first opportunity of the Cistes (29e). Hervé may well have added an additional penalty (33e), Thomas Vincent (35e) allowed the MHR to have a four-point lead at the break (10-6).
