“Dictator” – Jair Bolsonaro wants the dismissal of Judge Alexandre de Moraes, who blocked access in Brazil to the X platform belonging to Elon Musk
In his support for Elon Musk, Jair Bolsonaro is on the offensive. The former president of Brazil on Saturday called the Supreme Court judge who ordered the suspension of the social network X a “dictator” during a demonstration in Sao Paulo.
Tens of thousands of people gathered on Paulista Avenue, the emblematic artery of Latin America’s largest megalopolis, dressed in yellow and green, the colours of the Brazilian flag. According to researchers at the University of Sao Paulo, around 45,000 people were present. This is almost four times less than a rally in February that brought together 185,000 demonstrators in the same place, but more than another in Rio de Janeiro in April (around 32,000 people).
A decision to combat disinformation
On the occasion of the national independence day, and a month before the municipal elections, the slogans of this gathering were the defense of “democracy” and “freedom”, but also the dismissal of Judge Alexandre de Moraes, who last week blocked access in Brazil to the platform belonging to Elon Musk. The social network is accused of having ignored a series of court decisions related to the fight against disinformation.
