Israel strikes humanitarian zone in Khan Younis, dozens killed and wounded

-

The Gaza Civil Defense reported at least 40 dead and 60 wounded in an Israeli strike early on Tuesday, September 10. In a statement posted on social media, the Israeli army said it had targeted a Hamas “command center” located in a “humanitarian zone” of the Palestinian enclave, which has been relentlessly bombed since October 7, 2023.

An Israeli military aircraft “struck senior Hamas terrorists operating from a command and control center within the Khan Younis humanitarian zone,” the Israeli military said.

“Entire families have disappeared”

A few dozen minutes after the bombing, the Palestinian Islamist movement denied that its fighters were present at the Al-Mawasi humanitarian site, AFP reports.

Al-Jazeera media reports that the craters formed by these strikes are “9 meters”. According to this source, the Israeli attack took place near a field hospital run by a British NGO, UK-Med.

The Gaza Civil Defense said 20 tents were at the site at the time of the bombing, described as “one of the most heinous massacres” of the war that began on October 7.

“Entire families disappeared in the Al-Mawasi massacre in Khan Younis, under the sand, in deep holes,” said a spokesman for the civil defense, Mahmoud Basal.
