Sparse eyebrows, scattered hairs and broken lines… To restore intensity to our gaze, one technique is making headlines: eyebrow transplants. More explanations with Dr. Fadli, cosmetic doctor and director of Maison Lutétia.

What is eyebrow transplantation?

Eyebrow transplantation is a medical procedure with an aesthetic aim to reconstruct, correct or redensify the eyebrow line. The method used by Dr. Sarah Fadli consists of moving – via a gentle extraction method – our own hair, more particularly their bulbs, in order to reimplant them at the level of our eyebrows. The procedure therefore takes place in two stages. “We first shave a small strip of hair at the back of the head in order to take grafts. We make sure that this strip is invisible. The shaved hair will grow back,” explains the professional. Between 200 (for the head or tail of the eyebrows) and 800 grafts (for the total reconstruction of the line) can be taken. “Since the hair has a thicker diameter than the hairs, only single or double follicles are selected. The aim is to obtain a natural eyebrow arch.”

Then comes the meticulous step of implantation, which lasts longer, between one and two hours. “I take the grafts and, using an implanter, I inject them into the eyebrows following their natural movement,” explains the doctor.

The duration of the procedure, which is performed under local anesthesia, depends on the desired result. First of all, the shape of the eyebrows is pre-drawn to help the practitioner in the rest of the operation.
