Greenpeace activists symbolically “confiscated” private jets at the Samedan-Engadin airfield in Graubünden, the environmental organization reports in a press release this Wednesday. This airport is frequented by participants of the WEF, which started on Monday.

Twenty-seven activists carried out this operation. They first attached inflatable handcuffs with balls to private jets parked at the airfield. Then they put large stickers on the devices, which read: «CONFISCATED: Time to Tax the Super-Rich» (CONFISCATED: it’s time to tax the super-rich) and «CONFISCATED: Private jets burn our future» (CONFISCATED: Private Jets Are Burning Our Future).

For Greenpeace, this act campaigns for “the establishment of fair taxation of the richest people in order to finance the fight against the climate and biodiversity crisis”.

On Monday, Greenpeace activists had already protested by blocking access to the Davos heliport. On Sunday, the police also had to intervene to evacuate hundreds of anti-WEF demonstrators who blocked the road in front of Davos.
