Ice hockey: La Chaux-de-Fonds goes from paradise to hell

It was a strange match that Chaux-de-Fonniers played on Tuesday evening at Les Mélèzes against Olten. While they led 4-0, they managed to let their opponent come back in the second third before sinking in the final period.

Everything started very quickly for the 3,108 Chaux-de-Fonniers spectators who were able to see Marc Aeschlimann deceive the Solothurn goalkeeper Laurin Solèr to open the scoring in the second minute of play. Then, to conclude a balanced third, Cliff Pu gave two lengths ahead of the hosts, in the 19th minute. Enough to have your first tea in peace.

It went even faster in the second period. In the 25th minute, the score was 4-0 thanks to Stefan Rüegsegger (22nd) and Julien Privet (25th).

Hard for the Solothurns who could have let go of the ramp. But nay. In less than six minutes, they achieved the feat of coming back to level with their hosts, thanks to goals from Sterchi, in power play (30th), Jabola Prada (33rd), Obrist (33rd) and Weder, outnumbered (36th). Mad.

As if paralyzed, La Chaux-de-Fonds no longer found the path to goals in the final third. Worse, it conceded a fifth, coming from Oejdemark, in the 59th minute. Louis Matte then released his goalkeeper and, as often, it was the visitors who took advantage, sealing the score in the empty cage (60th) by Faille.

This defeat hurts HCC which could have regained the lead in the Swiss League rankings. Indeed, the first, Basel, lost 0-2 at home against the GCK Lions. Result: Chaux-de-Fonniers remain second, two lengths behind the Rhinelanders. On the other rinks, Thurgau lost against Visp (2-3) and Winterthur lost against Chur (1-3).
