Despite its industrial assets, its local products and its green setting, the Bernese Jura has in recent decades become entangled in an image of an austere region. A territory which did not know how to put itself forward – Protestant modesty, some would say – and which was often analyzed in opposition to its Jura neighbor, driven by the dynamism of its recent creation. But over the past two years, it has undergone a forward-looking development that is arousing interest well beyond its borders. Driving this change: the Grand Chasseral territorial brand, launched in November 2022.

Supported by a large number of civil society actors, the project arouses enthusiasm and is today managed by the Grand Chasseral Foundation. More than 300 entities (companies, institutions, tourism players, etc.) have already joined the brand. Almost all the communes of the Bernese Jura claim to be Grand Chasseral. The vast majority of political parties and regional institutions have also replaced “Bernes Jura” with this expression which has found a place in everyday language and is increasingly replacing the official name of the administrative district in the regional media.
