She exploits her sister, a minor and disabled in begging – Today Morocco

For having exploited for six years her sister, physically and mentally handicapped, aged eleven, in begging, a forty-year-old was sentenced, by the criminal chamber at the Court of Appeal of Rabat, to five years of criminal imprisonment accompanied by a fine of ten thousand dirhams and damages of around 200 thousand dirhams.
The affair broke out following a telephone call received by the royal gendarmerie in Aïn Al Aouda, which is located around thirty kilometers from the city of Rabat, coming from France. The interlocutor, a woman who rented to the respondent her own home located in her native country, affirmed that this woman exploited her sister in begging while driving her towards the cemetery of Aïn Al Aouda and through the streets of the region. The investigations were immediately carried out by the bloodhounds of the royal gendarmerie so that the suspect could be arrested. The complainant then traveled from France to Morocco and confirmed her complaint to investigators.
Subjected to interrogations, the accused confessed, confirming that she was indeed exploiting her sister in begging. An activity which earned her more than 300 DH per day, she told investigators. They learned that she was also mistreating the victim. This is the reason why she was prosecuted, according to the provisions of articles 448-1 and 448-2 of the penal code, for trafficking in human beings.
