Don’t miss the Canadiens v. Islanders from 7 p.m. on RDS and RDS.ca
After a more difficult weekend on the road, the Montreal Canadiens (8-13-3) will return to the Bell Center on Tuesday, with the objective of stopping a series of two consecutive defeats.
For the occasion, the Immortal of the old Forum, Patrick Roy, will be behind the visitors’ bench while the New York Islanders (9-10-6) will be in town.
New York, like Montreal, is having a more difficult season even if the weekend’s match, a 3-0 victory against Buffalo, gave the troops a little smile.
The beginnings of Patrik Laine?
On the Canadian side, the name on everyone’s lips is that of Patrik Laine.
Back in regular training since last week, the striker would be able to make his debut in the French uniform if the coaching group decides that it is the right time to send him into the fray.
As of this writing, Laine is not on the official roster given to reporters with morning practice. But, from what we know, it’s not uncommon for a name to be added during the day.
Michael Pezzetta was the Canadiens’ extra forward during the weekend’s matches and is on the official list. Otherwise, Joshua Roy is back with the Laval Rocket to make room for the Finn in the lineup.
Patrik Laine has not played a regular season game since December 14 when he was still playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Acquired by the Canadiens last August in exchange for Jordan Harris and a second-round pick, Laine was injured during training camp and has missed all of Montreal’s games since the start of the campaign.
More details to come.
