This new Seiko watch at 860 euros is a very good investment to make for Christmas

It was around this time two years ago that Seiko introduced its first trio of Speedtimer solar watch models. The famous series today welcomes its latest, the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SSC953. Limited to 24,000 copies, and available exclusively in Europe, this version recalls the aesthetics of automobiles from the 1960s. Its design, which combines retro charm and cutting-edge technology, as well as its “Factory Red” color make the Speedtimer SSC953 a piece collection that will delight all watch lovers.

An ultra-fast design by Seiko

Perhaps the most striking feature of this Japanese watch is the dark, matte red of the dial, a palette dubbed “Factory Red” by Seiko. The three black totalizers for the seconds display, the 24-hour indicator and the 60-minute stop function are inspired by the display instruments of classic vehicle tachometers. The bright orange color of the central seconds hand and the small lower totalizer hand brings luminosity, gives a boost to the dial and adds a welcome touch of modernity to the design.

The watch has a diameter of 39 mm and a height of 13.3 mm, for a format that is both compact and sporty. The stainless steel bezel with engraved tachymeter scale as well as the marked pushers underline the technical character of the model. With water resistance up to 100 meters, the Speedtimer SSC953 is suitable for everyday life as well as sporting activities. Resolutely practical, the solar motor with caliber V192 draws its energy from any light source and offers a power reserve of up to six months, once it is fully charged.
