This week, temperatures will drop sharply across the country. Signifying the return of snowfall in the Hautes-Fagnes, but also in Flanders.
Prepare all your winter gear, it’s going to be cold this week. Snow is expected over a large part of Belgian territory on Wednesday. The weather will be variable with alternating clearings and cloudy periods with showers, mainly in the north and east of our country.
In the Ardennes, precipitation will be in the form of slush and snow. But also in Flanders, winter precipitation will sometimes be possible. The maxima will be between 0 and +3 degrees south of the Sambre-et-Meuse furrow, around 4 degrees in the center and 5 or 6 degrees at sea. The wind will generally be moderate, but sometimes moderate to quite strong from western sector.
Dry start to the week
This Monday, the weather will remain generally dry in the northern Sambre and Meuse regions, and some clearings will appear, according to forecasts from the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM). In the south of the country, cloudiness will remain predominant, with occasional showers. The maxima will vary between 4 or 5 degrees in the Ardennes and 8 or 9 degrees in the center and on the coast.
Tuesday the sky will be very cloudy with rain. In the evening and during the night, these showers could take on a wintry character on the Ardennes heights. The maxima will vary between 7 and 11 degrees. Wind gusts could also reach up to 70 km/h inland, and up to 80 km/h on the coast and the Ardennes peaks.
