On November 16 and 17, 2024, Marrakech will host the 3rd edition of the Qatar Africa Business Forum, a major event which is part of the Qatar Morocco 2024 Cultural Year. Placed under the theme “Investing in AI for tomorrow’s growth”, this forum explores the key role of artificial intelligence in the economic and sustainable development of the African continent.
This forum brings together 350 leaders from the public and private sectors, from Africa, Qatar and other regions of the world. It is part of a strategic dialogue aimed at strengthening South-South partnerships. Chaired on the Moroccan side by Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, and the Qatari side by Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, this event testifies to the historic ties between the two nations, strengthened by the common vision of the Moroccan and Qatari.
Speakers include influential leaders such as Lauren Dreyer (SpaceX), Roy Swan (Ford Foundation), Teresa Clarke (Africa.com), and Idris Elba, actor and entrepreneur. These figures will share their perspectives on the role of AI in Africa’s economic and social transformation, addressing themes such as agriculture, smart urbanization and renewable energy.
The Qatar Africa Business Forum 2024 highlights the importance of innovative investments in shaping Africa’s future, balancing economic growth and sustainability. The event is also intended to be a space to capitalize on Qatar’s experience in terms of sporting and economic infrastructure, particularly after the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This forum aims to lay the foundations for strengthened cooperation, where artificial intelligence and technological innovation become levers of sustainable transformation for the continent.
