“Senegal must open a new 20-year cycle in the new direction”

Dr Abdourahmane Sarr, Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, calls for a complete overhaul of the Senegalese system. According to him, the rules and structures in place since 1960 must evolve to free the country from international dependence, empower local communities, and refocus the State on serving citizens.

As part of Vision 2050, it calls for a massive mobilization of the people to support this transformation, embodied by the leadership of Ousmane Sonko and the dynamic youth of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

“A system can be defined as “a set of elements which interact according to rules which form a coherent whole”. The elements and rules that have governed Senegal since 1960 must change. We must free Senegal from international dependence, free local communities from the central state through regional centers, and free the populations from a state and a political class that would not be at their service. We must release energies in a methodical and sustained manner in good governance. Yewwi Rewmi, Yewwi Gox Yi, Yewwi Nit Gni (YYY) in the Jubb, Jubbal, Jubbanti (JJJ),” says Abdourahmane Sarr.

“We will not be able to release energies without massive support from the people for the 2050 vision of systemic transformation of Senegal. We have no doubt about the support, but it must be massive to include those who did not vote for change in March 2024. Senegal must open a new 20-year cycle in the new leadership,” adds- he.

For Abdourahmane Sarr, the political leadership which carries the 2050 Vision of systemic transformation of Senegal is embodied by Ousmane Sonko who crystallizes the hopes of youth for whom a 25-year horizon has meaning. The young President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is the concrete representation of this.
