After the announcements by Auchan Retail management of the elimination of 2,400 positions nationally, everyone is wondering about the concrete consequences in the brand's stores. In Béziers, we learned that 9 positions will be eliminated.
“Nine positions will be eliminated in Béziers, including six sales advisors”explains Quentin Leclerc, Force Ouvrière central union delegate, himself an employee of the Pérols store. In detail: a position responsible for planning and managing payroll is also affected (as in all stores), as are two retail managers. “There will be a PSE (Employment Protection Plan, with voluntary departures, reclassification. So that does not mean that employees will find themselves unemployed, but the nine positions will be eliminated”nuances the union delegate.
“Reclassification may be complicated”
For employees, in general, it is “the shock”. “We could clearly see that from the equipment side (the departments where sales advisors mainly work, Editor’s note), it was complicated. But it is also linked to poor strategic orientations such as the cessation of after-sales service.underlines Quentin Leclerc. “The sales advisors all have a certain amount of seniority because we were no longer recruiting for these positions. So reclassification may be complicated for them.”
Unions should seek their own expertise “so as not to rely solely on management figures.” This should postpone the consultation of staff representatives – as part of official procedures – until early 2025.
