Ukraine seeks to convince Trump not to abandon it

A new battle has just begun in Ukraine and it will not take place in the trenches of Donbass, but in the cozy corridors of diplomatic compounds. Objective: convince Donald Trump not to abandon Ukraine in the open for the benefit of an unfavorable agreement defined according to the Kremlin’s terms. Volodymyr Zelensky worked on it from Wednesday morning, even before the Republican president’s victory was officially announced.

In a message shared on social networks, he congratulates him, as is customary, then unfolds in a few sentences what will constitute the heart of his strategy: insisting on the benefits that the United States could derive from support continued and increased to Ukraine. “We wish to develop mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation benefiting our two nations. Ukraine, one of the greatest military powers in Europe, is committed to ensuring long-term peace and security in Europe and the transatlantic community, with the support of its allies.” This proposal is taken from the “victory plan” that the Ukrainian president presented in September to the United States, including to the Republican candidate and his team.
