The head of the national list of the Pastef (power) party for the early legislative elections on November 17, Ousmane Sonko, promised on Tuesday to “change the face” of the Ranérou department, to make it “within a few years” , a locality “worthy of a departmental capital”.
”Ranérou is one of the most neglected departments in the country. I can tell you here that within a few years, the department will change its status by changing its face so that it becomes a locality worthy of a departmental capital,” he said.
The head of the national list of African Patriots of Senegal for work, ethics and fraternity (PASTEF), also Prime Minister, led a caravan in this commune in the Matam region (north-east).
Ousmane Sonko recalled that Ranérou-Ferlo “is rich in agricultural and pastoral potential”, before expressing his wish to develop the sector in this department, by setting up “dairy processing units” to allow producers to be able to “process the milk on site”.
“If you give us a majority in the National Assembly, we will ensure that your milk production is multiplied by five during the year,” promised Ousmane Sonko.
In Ranérou, the Pastef party has nominated Ousmane Camara as incumbent on the departmental list.
Arriving in Ourossogui during the night from Monday to Tuesday, Ousmane Sonko went to Ranérou in the afternoon.
He plans to hold a meeting in the evening at the Matam regional stadium.
