“This traffic disruption is predicted to be significant but not as severe as that experienced by road users on the Ring since April 2024. Commuters heading to Namur will notice little difference from the evening rush hour without work”estimates the administration.
Destruction of the bridge in Overijse in 2025, work on the Leignon-Custinne bridge until mid-November: the E411, the highway for all construction sites!
Access ramps between Auderghem and Waterloo closed until spring
As a reminder, the Ring tunnels at the Leonard crossroads have been under construction since last spring. Very impactful work which sparked strong outcry and a political crisis between Regions. The infrastructure, although located at the gates of the Brussels Region, is located in Flemish territory and is therefore managed (and financed) by the Flemish authorities.
The current long construction site at the Léonard intersection would only be the beginning…: here is the vast project on the table to completely transform the intersection
On the Ring side, delays are to be deplored. It was announced that the Auderghem-Waterloo and Waterloo-Auderghem ramps would be reopened at the end of November. But due to technical complications, the current situation, with closed ramps and inner Ring traffic on the surface, is expected to continue until April-May. Expected date for the end of major work on the Ring infrastructure.
Also note: additional disruptions will take place on the Ring this weekend of November 9, 10 and 11, linked to the movement of the construction site tent. Only one band will then be available on the Ring to Zaventem during these few days.
In addition, remember that nighttime disturbances continue. Until spring, the Ring tunnels are completely closed at night from Monday to Friday. From April-mail, the same for the E411 tunnels until the end of the year.
Until the end of 2025… unless
The overall end of the titanic project is scheduled for the end of 2025. But the Wegen en Verkeer administration says it is cautious about the timings due to weather conditions… “If it rains a lot or gets very cold in the coming months, the schedule could be pushed back again.”
