Bougane Guèye Dany counterattacks with a radical decision against the national gendarmerie

Sentenced to a one-month suspended sentence, the leader of Gueum Sa Bop, Bougane Guèye Dany, undertakes to repair what he describes as “justice”. During a press conference, he announced a complaint against the gendarmerie, denouncing unfounded accusations and arrests that he considers arbitrary.

On November 4, a week after his judgment, Bougane spoke out to denounce his treatment by the police. Returning to the facts with which he is accused, he criticized a “press release riddled with untruths”claiming that videos prove his innocence. Alongside his lawyers, he is considering legal action against the gendarmerie.

He also took the opportunity to issue virulent criticism against Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, whom he accuses of fleeing justice and targeting him personally. “In less than a month, I suffered two arrests, proof of persecution orchestrated by Sonko and the Pastef party,” he said, believing he was the victim of political harassment aimed at hindering his opposition.

For Bougane, this political pressure came while he was leading a humanitarian mission in Bakel, in support of 60,000 victims. Faced with this persecution, he entrusted his lawyers with the task of appealing to the United Nations Human Rights Committee. “The Senegalese can no longer live under a regime that flouts freedoms and human rights”he declared.

He also demanded answers from the State on the investigation into the ransacking of Barthélémy Diaz’s headquarters, questioning the impunity of Abass Fall, accused of public threats. Bougane invited President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to curb the actions of Sonko, whom he accuses of putting the country in danger. “Our economy is collapsing, our institutions are weakened. Senegal hits rock bottom »he warned, calling on Senegalese to vote for his Samm Sa Kaddu coalition in the November 17 elections for “correct the error of March 24, 2024”.
