In an excellent dynamic for several weeks, the Lausanne residents were suddenly brought back to earth during their trip to the PostFinance Arena in Bern. Indeed, Lausanne missed the opportunity to temporarily come back to the level of the Zurich Lions, leaders of the National League, by losing heavily 7-2 on the ice of a solid CP Berne.

A one-sided match in Bern

The evening quickly turned sour for Geoff Ward’s men. After only 2’14”, Moser already opened the scoring for the Bears. Three minutes later, the same Moser doubled the lead on an assist from Schild, achieving a double in 240 seconds which quickly placed the Bernese in the right orbit.

Not yet with their heads underwater, the Lausanne residents still had a slight burst of pride in the 9th minute with the reduction of Aurélien Marti’s score, allowing the LHC to return to the locker room with only a goal behind after 20 minutes of play.

During the middle third, the Bernese quietly continued their march forward, scoring two additional goals through Waltteri Merelä (27th) and Top Scorer Austin Czarnik (33rd, 5 against 4). Thus, the score was 4-1 after two thirds, and not much to complain about as the Bernese were superior in all areas of the game.

And nothing has worked out for the LHC. From the start of the third period, the Lausannes conceded the 5-1 after only 29 seconds with Benjamin Baumgartner’s goal. The Bernese then rolled on, scoring two other additional goals, before Pajuniemi reduced the gap a little by scoring Lausanne’s second goal in powerplay.

Despite this defeat, the LHC remains second in the National League. The Vaudois will be keen to make up for it tomorrow evening at the Vaudoise Aréna, where they will host Rapperswil at 7:45 p.m. The Saint-Gallois also lost 0-3 this evening against Davos, recording a fourth loss in five games.
