DS Art Talents: the third edition reveals the new faces of Moroccan art

The third edition of the competition DS Art Talentsinitiated by DS Automobilesrevealed its winners during a ceremony organized at the DS Gallery. Dedicated to the promotion of Moroccan artists, this competition celebrates each year innovation and creativity in three major disciplines: painting, photography and, new for this edition, design. The event, which is now an unmissable event on the Moroccan artistic scene, brought together a large audience, with a jury made up of influential figures from the world of art and design.

This year, the award-winning artists demonstrated their mastery of the themes addressed, in particular that of “Art & Nature”, which served as a common thread for their creations. Houda Rahmani won the Photography Prize for his powerful works which combine sensitivity and exploration of contemporary representations of Morocco. A multidisciplinary artist, Houda Rahmani is also an artistic director, graphic designer and independent director, graduated from the National Institute of Fine Arts of Tetouan and holds a doctorate in Arts and Film Studies.

The Painting Price was assigned to Younes Sadenwhose work focuses on human emotions captured through faces and expressions encountered throughout his travels. His figurative and experimental approach is distinguished by an ability to suspend the line, leaving it to the viewer to interpret the suggested emotion.

In the new category of design, Ahmed Maagouz was awarded the Design Prize. Passionate about interior architecture, Ahmed Maagouz has been able to impose his vision through creations combining function and aesthetics. His expertise in furniture design and his keen sense of composition have earned him this recognition.

In addition to these distinctions, the Audience Awardvoted online, was awarded to Issam Chorriba young 23-year-old photographer from Casablanca. Issam Chorrib has become known for his digital and mobile photography, which he uses to capture his view of the world. His work has already been exhibited internationally, including in New York, Dubai and at the National Museum of Photography in Morocco.

The jury for this edition was made up of influential personalities such as the Belgian-Moroccan photographer Mous Lamrabatknown for his bold portraits, Ghizlan El Mezouari El Glaouian artist renowned for his expressive portraits, and Younes Duret, a Moroccan designer recognized on the international scene. These members played a crucial role in the selection of works, providing their expertise to choose the winners from numerous entries.

A special mention was also given to Hiba Tazzit in the painting category. Her work caught the attention of the jury with its exceptional creativity, and she will benefit from an exhibition at the Myriem Himmich gallery in 2025.

The 2024 edition concluded with the inauguration of the exhibition “Shadow of Self or Silent Revelation”, organized in partnership with Art First Galerie. This exhibition highlighted the works of previous winners, including Rida Tabitet and Chama Bekri, who both explored introspective themes through their works. Rida Tabit notably questioned solitude and states of mind through indirect self-portraits, while Chama Bekria addressed the relationship between the body and social isolation.

The winners of this third edition will benefit from an exclusive exhibition at the DS Gallery and personalized support from DS Automobiles to continue to develop their artistic career. Each winner will also receive a prize of 20,000 dirhams, thus strengthening their visibility on the national and international artistic scene.
