In a press release, the Marseille prosecutor’s office confirmed this Wednesday the opening of an investigation into “criminal conspiracy with a view to preparing crimes and offenses relating to organized crime”. This comes following the publication, on social networks, of a video from the DZ Mafia concerning the two murders which took place at the beginning of October in the Marseille city.
The Marseille prosecutor’s office opened an investigation this Wednesday, October 9, following the broadcast earlier in the day of a video from the DZ Mafia on social networks, notably on X, refuting their involvement in the assassinations of a 15-year-old teenager, on October 2, and the VTC driver, on October 4.
In its press release, the public prosecutor indicates that this investigation is open for “criminal conspiracy with a view to the preparation of crimes and offenses relating to organized crime”.
The investigations were entrusted to the Marseille interdepartmental judicial police service (SIJP 13) and the Anti-Cybercrime Office (OFAC). They aim to “authenticate this video and identify the people who are behind it,” concluded the Marseille prosecutor’s office.
As previously indicated, through this video, the DZ Mafia indicated that the alleged member of their gang, suspected of having sponsored a 14-year-old hitman to commit a crime in Marseille and whose VTC driver was killed “by error” Friday October 4, was “a sick person and a mythomaniac (…) who has absolutely no connection with us”.
“We don’t know him, we have never had such a person in our circle,” added the Marseille drug trafficking clan.
Two assassinations in two days
But why did the DZ Mafia decide to speak out? After the death of the VTC driver, a collateral victim of violence linked to drug trafficking, the 14-year-old hitman fled.
However, his identity was quickly revealed by a 23-year-old man, an alleged member of the DZ Mafia gang, who hired him from Aix-Lyunes prison to avenge the murder of a 15-year-old boy.
The latter had in fact been fatally stabbed on Wednesday, October 2, and burned during the war between the DZ Mafia and the Blacks clan of the Félix-Pyat city, in the 3rd arrondissement of Marseille.
