here is the system put in place by the government to help Belgians who wish to leave Lebanon

The government meeting electronically on Wednesday decided to help Belgians who wish to leave Lebanon, by “providing” them with available places on commercial flights departing from Beirut, or by placing them on planes specially chartered by others European countries to repatriate nationals.

“Currently, less than a hundred people have indicated that they want to leave Lebanon,” said Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib on Wednesday evening. The Belgian embassy there will, without delay, check whether more Belgians wish to benefit from a flight to Europe.

The practical details of foreign flights are not yet known, but the objective is to offer a solution “as quickly as possible” to each Belgian who wishes to leave Lebanon, assures Foreign Affairs.

At the same time, the Defense remains ready, should an intervention on its part prove necessary. “An operational liaison and reconnaissance team” will fly “tomorrow for Cyprus”, communicated in the evening the competent minister Ludivine Dedonder. This team could be useful if an evacuation becomes necessary.
