Malian Minister Abdoulaye Diop met the EU representative, Joâo Cravinho, to strengthen cooperation and discuss the return to constitutional order.
The Malian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, received this Friday Joâo Cravinho, a new special representative of the European Union for the Sahel, as part of a working visit.
The discussions between the two diplomats were particularly dense and strategic. They addressed the practical methods of cooperation between Mali and the European Union, analyzed the geopolitical and security dynamics of the sub-region, and discussed on the evolution of the Malian governance model.
A central point of exchanges was the process of returning to a stabilized constitutional order. The two personalities highlighted the importance of a pragmatic and realistic approach in understanding the Sahelian issues.
-Minister Diop reaffirmed Mali’s position, describing it as “an open, peaceful and committed country for its security and sustainable development”. He insisted on the desire to build mutually beneficial partnerships, respectful of the constitutional principles.
An interview qualified as “frank and constructive” which marks an important step in diplomatic relations between Mali and the European Union, particularly in the context of the Confederation of the Alliance of the States of the Sahel (AES).
