Referred before the financial prosecutor’s office of the judicial pool by the Criminal Investigation Division (Dic), Tabaski Ngom and Momath Ba were unable to face the magistrate this Tuesday. They were the subject of a prosecution. The suspects were arrested last Thursday and Monday respectively in connection with the alleged embezzlement of 700 million FCfa. Treasury inspector Tabaski Ngom maintained that Momath Ba, former director general of the Agency for the Development and Promotion of Industrial Sites (Aprosi) was involved in the criminal acts. The affair became known after the civil servant requested a large amount from her former supervisory minister Moustapha Diop, to whom she allegedly lent part of the sum in question, for the purposes of her electoral campaign during the early legislative elections of November 17, 2024. Auditions and confrontations were carried out by investigators, in particular with two drivers of Moustapha Diop, interviewed last Monday, then released. The ball is now in the court of the financial prosecutor who is in charge of the prosecution. Tabaski Ngom was referred to the financial prosecutor’s office for money laundering and fraud involving public funds, but the amount of the damage could be revised downwards, according to our interlocutors because the alleged accomplice of Ms. Ngom, namely, Mor Guèye , boss of the companies Sen Setal and Webcom Sen, also right-hand man of Moustapha Diop, who benefited from the markets, recorded 209 million FCfa last December.
Which would bring the damage down to around 490 million FCfa. Guèye has been the subject of around ten prosecutions, according to our sources. As for Momath Ba, one of his counsel told us yesterday that he is not certain of the facts with which he is accused because “the offenses have not yet been settled”.
But it could be complicity of the leaders held against Tabaski Ngom. The next few hours will reveal the outcome of this case.
