Beaten, a man dies with a knife in a working-class neighborhood of Rennes

A man aged around 45 died Tuesday in Rennes after his attack in a working-class district of the city, said public prosecutor Frédéric Teillet.

“At this stage the link has not been made with drug trafficking,” he told AFP.

According to a source close to the case, he was beaten in the Blosne district south of Rennes around 6:15 p.m. by several people. He was stabbed and had three wounds in his abdomen, according to the same source.

Other victims this month

At the beginning of January, a 22-year-old young man was stabbed to death in the same neighborhood, in a place known for drug trafficking. The man suspected of having carried out the blows was arrested in Marseille then indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention.
