Senegal and Mauritania are taking a historic step with the launch of gas production at the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) cross-border field, the result of nine years of hard work.
A new energy boost for Senegal and Mauritania. This Tuesday, January 21, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, received a delegation from British Petroleum (BP) led by its executive vice-president, Mr. Gordon Birell. This meeting made it possible to officially announce the effective start of gas exploitation in close collaboration with the energy ministries of the two countries.
Mr. Gordon Birell, who had met the Mauritanian president the day before, expressed his pride on Rts:
“It is an honor to announce this great news after nine years of hard work. We are now looking to the future, with the ambition to expand this production and invest further in other projects in Senegal and Mauritania. »

“The process starts gradually with an initial plan. In the coming weeks, more wells will come online, and very quickly the entire production capacity will be fully operational. »
The heads of state of the two nations expressed their satisfaction with this major progress, which strengthens their role as regional leaders in the energy sector.
