Trump, swear to protect the Constitution.” A few minutes after noon, Monday January 20, 2025, as provided for in the fundamental text of the United States, Donald Trump took the oath, regaining the power of the leading world power, four years after having desperately tried to cling to it. The ceremony took place in the rotunda of the Capitol, the seat of Congress, which was taken over on January 6, 2021 by his supporters, fanaticized by his remarks aimed at hindering the peaceful transition of power.
Immediately after swearing on the Constitution, under the eyes of his predecessor Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, defeated at the polls on November 5, the new president delivered a speech of radical break with the Democratic administration. “America’s golden age begins now,” he began. Our country will prosper and be respected again. It’s very simple: it will be America first.”
