On Saturday January 18, 2025, the Moroccan League of Young Newspaper Publishers, in collaboration with the Amieva Cultural and Musical Association and the Santander City Hall, organized a solidarity festival at the Santander Exhibition Center in support of the victims of the floods caused by the DANA which struck the city of Valencia, Spain.
The solidarity event, whose entry was offered at symbolic prices to raise funds for the victims and their families, offered various activities.

Among these, we noted a “musical bingo”, an official presentation of the participating Moroccan and Spanish authorities and personalities, under the direction of Mr. Mohamed Jebari, Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Bilbao. Pastry and Moroccan food tasting workshops, henna and calligraphy sessions, as well as musical performances also took place. The famous Spanish artist Eva Amieva, accompanied by Moroccan artists and pianist Ahmed Jaddawi, gave a remarkable performance. These activities illustrated the deep spirit of solidarity between Morocco and Spain in these difficult times.
This festival coincided with the celebrations of the Moroccan community, both inside and outside the country, for the Amazigh New Year 2975, during which the rich Moroccan Amazigh culture and music were highlighted and celebrated .

In his speech, Mr. Mohamed Jebari expressed: “On behalf of the Kingdom of Morocco, I present our most sincere condolences and our deep solidarity with the families of the victims and the people affected by the tragedy of the DANA floods in Spain, as well as than with the Spanish people and their neighbors. »

He also underlined that Morocco, in accordance with the high instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has mobilized significant logistical resources to contribute to relief and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas, thus reaffirming the values ​​of neighborhood and fraternity. which unites Morocco and Spain.

Mr. Jebari insisted on the role of the Moroccan community in Spain, which also suffered human and material losses due to Hurricane DANA, and praised the active collaboration of numerous Moroccan associations and volunteers in the restoration of life. normal in the affected towns.

For his part, Mr. Mateo Echevarría Méndez, Advisor for Transparency, Migration and Development Cooperation at Santander City Hall, thanked the participants in the event and underlined: “This solidarity festival is a bridge of communication between Morocco and Spain. We have always been brotherly peoples in every aspect. Proceeds from this event, accompanied by other activities, will help support the victims, while allowing us to discover the rich Moroccan gastronomy. »

Eva Amieva, president of the Amieva Cultural and Musical Association, sent special thanks to Consul General Mohamed Jebari, Councilor Mateo Echevarría and Santander City Hall for their institutional support. She insisted on the importance of this festival for raising funds for victims and for promoting the values ​​of solidarity in times of crisis.

Mr. Mohamed Fajri, president of the Moroccan League of Young Newspaper Editors, underlined: “The participation of diplomats, journalists, artists, intellectuals, civil society and the Moroccan community resident in Spain shows our deep and sincere support to the victims of DANA in Valencia and their families, hoping for a speedy recovery for the affected people and regions. »

For his part, Mr. Aimane Reghais, co-director of the festival, concluded: “This event not only celebrated our rich cultural diversity, but also embodied the human values ​​that unite us. I hope that the success of this event will inspire future collaborations to further strengthen bilateral relations between Morocco and Spain. »

This cultural, artistic and solidarity festival mainly aimed to promote solidarity and mutual understanding between Morocco and Spain, thus consolidating the relations which reached their peak after the historic recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara by Spain.
