The Dakaractu editorial team has taken note of a press release published on the official Facebook page of the National Police, announcing a major operation carried out by elements of the Operational Division of the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS).

According to the press release, this operation, carried out on January 19, 2025 between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., led to the arrest of five individuals in the localities of Almadie 2 and Keur Massar. The people arrested are named I. Yatassaye, MA Sané (alias “Ada”), AT Diop, A. Ndiaye and M. Sall.

These arrests follow operational information obtained by law enforcement, notably implicating MA Sané in a previous drug trafficking case. He would have participated in the landing of illicit substances seized on the night of December 29 to 30, 2024 on Mbao beach.

In addition to the arrests, the operation led to the seizure of two packages of Indian hemp with a total weight of 82.5 kg, a Suzuki Vitara 4×4 vehicle, as well as seven mobile phones. All of the seized items were sealed at the headquarters of the department concerned, and the suspects were placed in police custody pending further investigation.

This intervention is part of the incessant fight against illicit drug trafficking, a scourge which continues to plague the country. The authorities thus reaffirm their determination to dismantle the networks involved and bring those responsible to justice.

With this new seizure, the national police are taking another step forward in their mission to secure populations and fight against organized crime.
