Will the inhabitants of Amaly, a village located in the commune of Téssékéré, in the department of Linguère, one day be able to overcome their shock at this macabre scene? According to SourceA, the tragedy occurred on Wednesday January 15, 2025. That day, Gathiol Sow, after losing his herd, went looking for it to Dolly’s Ranch, but in vain. Later, he informed his relatives that he had found his animals and asked them to come and welcome him a few kilometers from the village. However, once there, his parents found neither animals nor traces of the herd, adds SourceA.
On the night of January 14, 2025, Gathiol Sow allegedly faked abdominal pain and asked his wife, Saadate Sow, to accompany him to the Amaly health post, reports SourceA. Compassionate, she tied the horse to a cart to transport him. But once in the bush, he turned on her, hitting her several times with a machete. According to certain sources relayed by SourceA, the man even slit his wife’s throat before abandoning her, leaving behind seven children.
The next day, children looking for water in Amaly discovered a lifeless body next to a cart. Alerted, the head nurse immediately informed the elements of the Yang-Yang gendarmerie brigade as well as the firefighters. As SourceA clarified, a report of use was carried out before the body was sent to the Dahra health center.
The alleged assassin was finally arrested in Méweul, in the commune of Yang-Yang, on Friday January 17, 2025. Still according to SourceA, he will be referred to the Louga regional prosecutor’s office. Saadate Sow’s remains were buried in his native village, Mbeuleukhé.
