Operation Teddy continues to bring good luck to GSHC! The Eagles have won, with tonight’s match, 12 of the 19 editions! However, nothing was easy against a solid Kloten team. The watchword in the locker room was to be concentrated and solid defensively. The Garnet must win matches, whether it is beautiful or not, the only objective is to take points. This evening, the game plan was respected and Treille/Franzén’s men completely annihilated the opposing vehemence. Often kept outside the slot, the Zurich residents never really managed to put Robert Mayer in great danger.
If the Eagles managed to keep their clean sheet, they also had all the difficulty in the world to score! As they approached the boundary before inducing the fluff toss, Josh Jooris and Markus Granlund combined to open the scoring. A magnificent goal from the Canadian center which allowed the 7,135 spectators to throw their teddy bears onto the ice (41st). For the 19th time since 2006, a veritable tidal wave of teddy bears and other stuffed animals fell on Vernets. There begins the sweep of the young hockey players of the canton, the cheerleaders and all the volunteers to collect the stuffed animals graciously offered by the public. These soft toys will then be redistributed to several associations in order to delight young people. The GSHC will also carry out a distribution but to the children’s hospital at HUG.
The Garnets therefore took the lead and for nothing in the world they were going to give it up. Still in their game plan, they worked hard to keep this clean sheet. A true team performance. As a sign of fate, it was once again Josh Jooris who shook the nets. This time, when the goals were deserted (60th). 2-0, three more points on the clock and 7135 people with stars in their eyes. That’s what we call a successful evening!
