Mélenchon castigates “our leaders who encouraged the massacre” in Gaza

Jean-Luc Mélenchon distributes the good and bad points on the situation in the Middle East. The leader of La insoumise welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas on Wednesday evening, castigating in passing “the guilt and shame of our leaders who let this happen […] the massacre.”

“May the ceasefire hold and the lives of the survivors be spared from now on. May the hostages and prisoners return to life and the scars of their physical and moral wounds soften. May the living mourn their dead without fear and our tears erase the hatred they legitimately feel,” wrote the three-time presidential candidate on X. “And may the future not forget the guilt and shame that is that of our leaders who let it happen, looked the other way and encouraged the massacre,” he added.

Fabien Roussel welcomes the truce

After October 7, 2023, the Rebels made the Palestinian cause one of their main themes, describing the situation in Gaza as “genocide”. They were also accused of a lack of empathy towards the Israeli victims and hostages.

“The announcement of a truce is a relief for Gaza, for the Palestinian and Israeli people and for all of Humanity,” welcomed the head of the French Communist Party Fabien Roussel.
