US authorities were quick to arrest a suspect after shots were fired near Donald Trump on Sunday, September 15, near his golf course in Palm Beach, Florida.

A witness told police that he “saw a person run out of a bush” and then “get into a black Nissan,” Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric L. Bradshaw said at a news conference.

The witness managed to take the suspect’s vehicle and its license plate.

Assault rifle found in bush

This valuable information allowed the teams to identify and then intercept the vehicle. “We were able to contact the sheriff who was able to arrest the driver.” On Facebook, the authorities specified that the vehicle was intercepted on a highway.

An assault rifle, AK-47, two backpacks and a GoPro were also found in the bush from which the suspect emerged.

After the shooting, the FBI announced in a statement that it was opening an investigation “into what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.”

For his part, the former American president announced that he was “safe” and “in good health” in a statement.
