Visitor of the day: Bastiaan Crebas
Dutch trainer based very close to the Wolvega racecourse, Bastiaan J. Crebas (65 years old) does not hesitate to travel the European roads to find the best commitments for his residents. This is how this Wednesday in Vincennes, he presents Luc Paasloo (Uhlan du Val), associated with Florian Desmigneux, in the Prix de Gavray.
It was while accompanying his father to races that he developed a passion for trotters and decided to make it his career. He started at 16 with Dirk Bolwijn who, like him later, worked a lot with French trotters. He continued his career in the United States at Stanley Dancer, where he had the chance to take care of Duenna (Green Speed), the winner of the 1983 Hambletonian. Today at the head of a team of around fifty horses, half of which are French trotters, Bastiaan J. Crebas has nearly 1,700 victories to his name. . In the early 1990s, Ballisi (Radjah de Talonay), a horse bred by the Baudron family, remains the best element he was given to train, while, more recently, Kimberly’s Wish (Offshore Dream) also gave him satisfaction in the Paris region.
The Dutch professional has two goals in mind for the rest of his career. “I have won all the classic races for 2 and 3 year olds in the Netherlands except the Open Derby. I really want to win it. Winning a race at Vincennes as a driver is also a dream for me. I will do everything to get there”he says.
13 horses in green
Out of a total of 113 starters during this semi-night meeting, 13 of them will set off with the confidence of their coaches who declared a green emoji for their candidacy. The Prix de Pornichet, a B climb race for 8 to 11 year olds with 15 starters, is the only event where no professional has put a green emoji.
