The DJONE Coalition pleads with Barthélémy Dias and calls for preserving the authority of the State…

Meeting on Saturday, January 11, the DJONE Coalition addressed several current national issues. She insisted on the preservation of state authority and respect for the presidential office, while rejecting the idea of Senegal considered as political spoils to be shared among election winners.

Concerning the debt, the DJONE Coalition believes that the debate is misdirected. “It is not only a question of its volume, but above all of its acquisition conditions (interest rate, financial backer) and its destination. Debt must be acquired at sustainable rates and primarily used to finance investments. » They believe that “the State must also use it to buy back shares of companies with majority foreign capital to increase costs and gain economic sovereignty. This is what we call “good debt”, to use the term of the late Mahammed Boun Abdallah Dionne. »

On another note, the coalition welcomes the government’s efforts to control inflation and regularize the activities of street vendors and motorcycle drivers in Jakarta. She immediately urges the State to “accelerate the process in a sustained social momentum and suggests giving time to young “Jakartamen” and Ambulants so that they can reorganize themselves. » For the DJONE Coalition, this involves broad consultations with all stakeholders in order to improve the implementation of decisions.

The political heirs of Mahammed Dionne also propose “to accelerate the “100,000 housing” program and prioritize industrialization, SMEs, as well as the development of the primary sector, mining and energy resources to create jobs. Training and capacity building of youth must be intensified according to the executive office of the Coalition. »

Finally, on the political-judicial file concerning Mr. Barthélémy Diaz, the DJONE Coalition asks the government to “reconsider the disproportionate conviction of the former deputy mayor of Dakar, emphasizing that he has already served a six-month sentence and paid damages. » The Coalition considers that the loss of his position as deputy and mayor would be excessive. “We must take into account the mitigating circumstances from which he may still benefit. In fact, there is no premeditation on his part and he did not initiate the acts which earned him the conviction. The coalition reminds the entire political class of their obligation to cultivate self-improvement and elegance as a political approach in the face of adversity, in order to put an end to resentment and the settling of scores in the political field. »

The DJONE Coalition renews its call to work “ to the achievement of a reconciled, just and prosperous Senegal for the exclusive interest of the people. »
