The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has awarded the contract to print ballot papers for the 2026 general elections to a UAE company, Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro announced on Monday.
Speaking to the press in Lusaka, Mr Kasaro said the electoral commission had to disqualify Ren Form CC, a South African company initially selected for the contract. This had not met certain requirements.
As a result, the contract was awarded to UAE-based Al Ghurair Printing and Publishing, which had come in second place during the evaluation process.
In addition to the announcement, Kasaro said the commission would organize mass voter registration during the second quarter of 2025, in preparation for the 2026 general elections.
This voter registration exercise will extend over a period of 60 days.
Furthermore, Mr. Kasaro specified that the certification of the electoral register for the 2026 general elections would be carried out in April 2026.
