The children of the Jules-Guesde school in Cenon, on the right bank of Bordeaux, have just returned to class. Some mothers are chatting in the square. 8:50 a.m. this Friday. On the other side of the street, there is the Novéales residence built 10 years ago in this completely redeveloped sector of the Pont rouge at the foot of the Côte des Quatre-Pavillons. This Thursday in one of the apartments, on the third floor of entrance 1-3, Youssef El Yaagoubi slit his wife’s throat with a knife. The 43-year-old man called the police himself after committing the crime.
“I saw him every day coming to pick up his children,” says a mother of a student who herself attended the Jules-Guesde school. “A very calm man. I’m shocked. My daughter is in first grade with one of them and she asked me last night, ‘Dad, isn’t he going to do that to you, Mom?'” At her side, Sarah, another mother of a student from this class, recounts the astonishment this Thursday at the end of the afternoon: the exit of the children, the sudden arrival of the police at the foot of the residence, then the exit of Youssef El Yaagoubi, taken away by the police .

At the request of the public prosecutor, the couple’s three children, aged 5, 9 and 10, all attending school in Jules-Guesde, were hospitalized. At school, the children were welcomed in an inevitably exceptional atmosphere: the Rectorate set up a listening unit, made up of a psychologist, a social worker, a school nurse and a doctor . “The deputy director of national education services (Dasen) has been on site since the morning, and the social service for students is on alert for reinforced monitoring,” indicates his services.

“The educational team is fantastic, the teachers know how to talk to the children,” underlines another mother. “But we will also have to find the words at home. » Another understands that the suspect is from the Dravemont district in Floirac, that he would have said to his two children (the third was unwell) brought in early Thursday afternoon “today, you stay later at school, be strong, I love you”, without these facts having yet been verified by the investigation.

A crisis unit, with psychological support and monitoring, has also been set up by the civil service management center and the University Hospital.
